V. Diaz was born and raised in New York City, where she started dancing at the age of six. After a childhood filled with training in modern, jazz, and African dance, V. took a break from dance training until she graduated from college and moved to Washington DC. It was in DC that she discovered her love for hip hop dance.
From 2010 until 2013, V. was a core dancer in Afta Shock DC, part of the Culture Shock family, and she performed in DC, NYC, LA, and Ottawa with the company. V. also performed pieces choreographed by Aysha Upchurch in her production “Retrofuturistic” at Dance Place in 2009, and performed a piece choreographed by Jennifer Archibald at the Jack Guidone Theater in DC in 2007.
V. has studied and trained in DC, New York, and LA, where she met GROOV3 Founder Benjamin Allen when he was teaching a hip hop class at Gold's Gym in Hollywood. After taking GROOV3 with Ben in the summer of 2013, she begged him to bring GROOV3 to DC. Two years later, she finally decided that she had to bring the GROOV3MENT to DC herself. V. is also an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor. She is so excited to share this amazing dance fitness format with the nation's capital!
