Matt Lievers currently lives in Wood River, IL and was born and grew up in the neighboring town of Alton, IL. He started dancing at a very young age, back when the kids watched MTV for the videos and not the scandal reality TV. He would emulate the dancing he saw and became ‘self-taught’ by watching the videos.  He attended Alton Senior High School and graduated in 1996. After graduation, Matt attended Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville (SIUE), where he studied Mass Communication along with Theater and Dance from 1996 to 1999. During this time, he did a lot of choreography for stage productions held at the university. Around that time, he became involved in the fitness world and had begun teaching aerobics and dance at local fitness centers and at the SIUE University in a variety of formats.

In 2000, Matt was approached with an opportunity to move to Los Angeles with some of his school mates to pursue a career in entertainment. After moving to Los Angeles, Matt began teaching aerobics and dance at various fitness centers and dance studios in the area. He performed in variety of venues and provided choreography for both local and upcoming talent in the Los Angeles dance music scene. Matt also appeared on the red carpet for the 2000 Emmy Awards and appeared in two network sitcoms along with dabbling in the recording studio to record his first demo vocal track. In 2002 he returned home to IL and continued teaching fitness classes and dance at local fitness centers. Currently, he teaches six classes per week which vary from aerobics, and dance to Zumba. In late 2013, Matt was introduced to GROOV3 by attending a workshop hosted by creator Ben Allen. He is very excited to be a certified GROOV3 instructor and is looking forward to promoting and participating in the next ‘big thing’ in the St. Louis area.
