As a young kid, Dean has always liked movement. He likes to say that he's danced since he was in his mom's womb. His mom said he would always be moving, even while he was in her womb.

"If the music is on, he would be moving around in there." - Elsa Custodio

Dean moved to the US when he was 9 and dancing has always been something fun for him. He would try and learn music videos, make up his own choreography to songs that he liked and watch performances. Yeah, he was and still is a MAJOR dance nerd. He's never taken any formal dance training or classes. He would try a class here and there, but it was difficult to build self confidence being around such amazing accomplished dancers. Then he took his first GROOV3 class. He remembers taking his first GROOV3 class at the Sweat Spot back in May 8, 2012. He was hooked, he was addicted and he took every class Benjamin Allen taught that week. He remembers Benji's surprised face when he showed up to all of his classes.

By day, Dean works for LRG, a young men's street wear clothing brand where he is the Retail Development and Visual Merchandising Associate.

"It's a job in the fashion industry and fashion is always changing. My job is always different and it never stops. I love what I do, but just like everybody else, I needed a break and an escape. Dance gives me that escape." -Dean Elex Bais

After a long day of working on set for a photo shoot, doing store visitations, meetings, etc etc etc, Dean runs to a dance class, sometimes two if he's lucky. His job also has him traveling to different parts of the country and even after a day of traveling and working, he stills makes it a point to check out the local dance studios and take a class. Dance has helped him be more creative in his job, it's helped him step outside the box. It's inspired him to do better on his day to day.

"I have a bad habit of not sleeping and that's probably due to the fact that once I get home from taking classes, I run through the choreography several times so I don't forget them. I even remember some pieces that I learned months ago because I'm a freak like that and will go over and over the choreography again and again." -Dean Bais

He goes home and runs the choreography he learned on his drive way. He puts his headphones on, presses play and tries to better his understanding of the choreography he learned that night. He even goes back to some favorites he's learned in the past just so he doesn't forget the movements. Dean doesn't have a mirror so he uses his shadows that is on the driveway made by the streetlight behind him to see and check out his placements.

All of this started because of GROOV3. Now he is a certified GROOV3 instructor and can't wait to share his love for dance. Make sure you stay tuned to find out where his classes will be. Check out his Social Media outlets below and start stalking him!!!
