The American Heart Association (AHA) is a non-profit organization in the United States that fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke. The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is: "Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke."
OUR IMPACT: In January 2008, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released new mortality data which shows that, since 1999, coronary heart disease and stroke age-adjusted death rates are down by 25.8% and 24.4%, respectively. This means that our 2010 strategic goal for reducing deaths from coronary heart disease by 25% has been achieved, and for stroke nearly achieved- well ahead of schedule. A new impact goal for 2020 is already being developed.
The American Heart Association is all about regular physical activity and healthy eating so what better way to promote that when with DANCE! Please join us for an afternoon of GROOV3ing followed by a raffle with great prizes!
